The heartbeat of ACCORDION is measured by its monitoring component. Probes are installed along with the ACCORDION minicloud, the computing unit and the component responsible for incorporating foreign infrastructures to the ACCORDION ecosystem. The monitoring component stands in the shoulders of… titans! Prometheus.io is configured to collect a large array of data and circulate them to the heart of the system, the event bus, where complex metrics comprise events of interest to which the ACCORDION intelligent orchestrator reacts. Events are defined on the basis of the application requirements and the resource availability, using the cloud as a backup, i.e., a system to temporarily store data and provide functionality until a more appropriate edge resource becomes available. This architecture enables ACCORDION to be a programmable infrastructure dynamically adapting itself to its volatile context.
